Literature Text

I heard a man say, “we fear death, we fear going to sleep and never waking up. We fear being trapped in an empty black box for eternity. We fear never waking up.”

I heard a man say that. But when I sleep, when we all sleep, what do we do?

I was once a hero. I was once a slave. I was once loved and revered and wanted. I was once caught in the act with another, and she and I ran away and laughed and talked and kissed over the incident. I could leap to great heights and distances. I experienced things with brothers and sisters who I never knew were real. I saw the world, the galaxy and the universe. Existence was blue and full of energy and information and emotion. I sailed through truth and reality on invisible wings and warm wind, and I fell into golden light where my mind was one and all and everything. I transcended, I  found the real me.

I do not fear death, I do not fear going to sleep forever. I fear waking up from the dream.
Experimental Shorts are works based outside of the writer’s normal scope of genre and ideas, conceptualised and written in under twenty minutes.
